I found this review online from the Military Channel and I have to agree with most of what he said. I have one mounted on a Ruger American Rifle Chambered in 30-06 and it is a great scope for the money. I would definitely put it in the same class as a Nikon but I still think that the Luepold has better clarity and high quality glass. You can see some actual pictures of the scope on my firearm and some previous blog posts.

All,

I am a pretty big supporter of Ruger firearms and the stronger stance they have taken for 2nd Amendment. The contact your representatives feature this year in the wake of all the anti gun legislation is a great example.

I gave them my feedback and if you so desire you should to.

Some of the things I outlined were:

· Expand your product line to get back into the shotgun arena and perhaps a muzzleloader

· Continue and enhance your pro 2nd amendment stance

· Develop and continue to expand your line of compact carry pistols

· Offer budget conscious / value for quality options to consumers (Ruger American Rifle is a great example of such an offering)

· Continue to offer excellent customer service

Ruger in many regards with the Ruger 5.56 Model is the mac daddy of AR’s on a consumer level not getting to much into the custom stuff that runs $2000 and up. It comes with a whole slew of accessories including Troy branded products for its $2000 MSRP but can be had for around a $1700 Street price. They have no come out with a Varmint edition named the 5.56VT. With a stainless 20’’ barrel. Looks pretty nice. I think for the same price I’d still prefer the mac daddy 5.56 model but I can tell you it is top heavy. The longer barrel might be nice for those long range shots as well. There has been some talk by the TSA of allowing certain size blades on flights again but in the wake of the Boston Bombing that has been placed on hold but I thought I would shed some light on a really nice blade that would fit the bill for such an application. These are made in the USA and are high quality steel. You can read more on their Facebook page. Surprising that Facebook allows such products given their liberal mentaly, I don’t support such business practices. I have a few of their knives and they are great high quality tools. So I’m constantly on the lookout for more material and when I stumble upon something I like I usually post about it here so that all of you can enjoy in the spoils of what I have found. I stumbled on this website when I got more into firearms recently and they have some really good videos on a variety of different topics so much so that I subscribed to their newsletter and have always found it interesting. Their latest contains some info on bug-out bags and some compact firearms.

So this weekend I finally got my Mosin Nagant out to take off all the cosmoline and try and refinish the stock. I didn’t want to actually restain the stock rather just sand down the stock and make it smooth and in like new condition again. I started by using some hot water and a rough rag to get some of the cosmoline off of the stock and gun parts. Iraqiveteran88 on youtube has some great videos on refinishing stocks and taking off cosmoline. You can find them in the link below. I will include the picture gallery for how it all turned out as well.
