By my last count seven companies have joined the fight for our 2nd Amendment in light of the recent bills passed in New York. Hopefully many others will join the fight so that the entire industry can ban together similar to what happened at the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show.

Effective today, in an effort to see that no legal mistakes are made by LaRue Tactical and/or its employees, we will apply all current State and Local Laws (as applied to civilians) to state and local law enforcement / government agencies.

List by my last count

  • LaRue Tactical
  • Olympic Arms
  • Extreme Firepower
  • Templar Custom
  • York Arms
  • CMMG

Here is a statement from Olympic Firearms

“Legislation recently passed in the State of New York outlaws the AR15 and many other firearms, and will make it illegal for the good and free citizens of New York to own a large selection of legal and safe firearms and magazines. We feel as though the passage of this legislation exceeds the authority granted to the government of New York by its citizens, and violates the Constitution of the United States

Due the passing of this legislation, Olympic Arms would like to announce that the State of New York, any Law Enforcement Departments, Law Enforcement Officers, First Responders within the State of New York, or any New York State government entity or employee of such an entity – will no longer be served as customers.

Olympic Arms invites all firearms manufacturers, distributors and firearms dealers to join us in this action to refuse to do business with the State of New York. We must stand together, or we shall surely fall divided.”

LaRue’s press statement read:

“Effective today, in an effort to see that no legal mistakes are made by LaRue Tactical and/or its employees, we will apply all current State and Local Laws (as applied to civilians) to state and local law enforcement / government agencies.”

Stay informed Patriots!

I was recently web surfing and stumbled upon NRA’s ILA site and found the media center that contains a ton of really good videos centered around the political climate. Go out there and take a look for yourself and let me know what you think. Link below.

Hey Guys,

I thought I would share with you the way that I stay informed in the industry. Recently I got even more passionate in firearms and tactical gear and had the desire to be involved. Writing your representatives should be the first step in taking action but being informed is also important. Since I don’t mind reading email as long as it isn’t junk what I did was go out and create a Gmail address specifically for firearm and tactical related gear. Gmail addresses are free so might as well have a couple for different uses. You can setup multiple accounts in Thunderbird or Outlook as well just Google it. I actually have a couple today one for professional use, one for everyday, one for my outdoorsy stuff, and one for alerting on my PC stuff. Check your favorite sites most of them have newsletters. I like to have product back in stock notifications sent to this address as well so that I know when that gun I’ve been waiting for has arrived.

Some of the sites I subscribe to are:

Firearms manufacturers websites (Ruger, Remington, Kimber, etc.)

Tactical Gear Websites (5.11 Tactical, Condor, UTG, etc.)

Firearms blogs (Moderno, Truth About Guns, etc.)

Online Firearms Dealers (Buds Guns, Cheaper than Dirt, Aim Surplus, Fr33dm Arms, etc.)

Knife Dealers (Gerber, Cold Steel, Spyderco, Crkt, Spartan, etc.)

Outdoor Shopping Sites (Midway USA, Cabela’s, Bass Pro, Brownells, Sportsmans Warehouse)

Let me know if you have any questions on the technical aspect of how to set this up.

Magpul as you all know is under fire from house bill 1224 and threatening to leave the state of Colorado if the bill passes. They produce high capacity magazines and various other parts for firearms. I have never owned a bad Magpul item they are all high quality pieces at a decent price. I am only worried that if the bill does pass and Magpul has to leave what that will do to the inflation in price and shortage of these already scarce magazines and parts. If it does pass, I hope that Magpul keeps to its word and gets the heck out of dodge.

Magpul’s COO , Doug Smith, has personal stated: “If we’re able to stay in Colorado and manufacture a product, but law-abiding citizens of the state were unable to purchase the product, customers around the state and the nation would boycott us for remaining here.”

The current bill is set to ban magazines over 15 rounds, the company has some 200 workers and another 400 suppliers and contractors would be affected by the move to a different location and state. Representatives of the state say there is no reason to move but I beg to differ. If you are from Colorado or support Magpul and their products do your best to contact these representatives and tell them what you think. Magpul generates approximately 85 million in revenue for the state of Colorado.

In addition, Colorado democrats hold a 37-28 majority in the Hour and a 20-15 majority in the Senate. Not all Democrats are on board with the bill but still.

Magpul has release several statements on their Facebook site: https://www.facebook.com/magpul

Reach out to Colorado representatives here act now: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/CO

Stay tuned… TAKE ACTION!

I thought I would post about my recent experience with Fr33dm Arms based out of Beaverton, Oregon. In this current climate in-stock items of tactical gear and firearms is slim and finding a website that offers top notch customer service is almost unheard of unless you are talking about a large site like Brownells that has been in the business for a while and has the resources to staff a large customer service department. For me, I’ve always been a fan of supporting small businesses especially those that are family owned. Recently, I bought a firearm from Fr33dm Arms and had nothing but the best experience. The owner kept in touch with me all the way through the transaction, shipping and the price of the firearm was reasonable even in the current climate, and the item was shipped and received in less than a weeks time.

They don’t have a lot of stock right now but more and more shows up everyday check out their site at:

http://Fr33dm.com

You can also follow the owner on twitter his handle is @fr33dm4us

He is an avid supporter of our 2nd amendment and his twitter feed is filled with the latest information with what is going on in this political climate.

You’d be the surprised the number of gun and tactical enthusiasts that do not know about this site. It is user driven and I thought I would share a blog post about it and speak to a few tips that I’ve learned along the way with using the site. I always like to go to the right hand corner of the page where it lists the most recent deals. It should look like a buttom similar to the following below.

The URL for the latest deals is http://slickdeals.com/today

I check this site regularly for ammo, knives, tactical gear, firearms, and anything else that might interest someone like me. Another thing I like to use the site for is to see who out there sells tactical gear and firearms. If you look at the posts they almost always tell you who is selling the good or service. This way you can find new sites to shop for when it comes to finding a good deal. As you can see below the seller is TacticalVantage.com. I would have never known of such a website if I didn’t stumble across it through Google or something similar. Again this is the second thing I like to point out is its good for finding new sites to shop for tactical things, firearms, ammo, etc.

The third thing I do regularly especially in this current climate is go to google type in what I want and then include slick guns in the search field as well. For example if I was looking for a Remington 870 Shotgun I would type in:

“Remington 870 Shotgun Slick Guns”

Then the majority of the time it will show me expired or current deals that were/are listed on Slickguns for that particular gun. If it’s expired it still gives me some insight into what the product was listed for price wise before the Newton inicident occurred. You should see something like this in your Google returned search results as shown below. Click on one that interests you and it should take you to the Slick Guns website.

I clicked on the first one for an example and got the following:

You can see this one is sold out but if you scroll to the bottom of the page you should see the previous prices for such an item. This will ensure when you actually do go out to find one in the current climate how close you are to the prices before all of this Sh*# went down. See example below:

In this case I probably wouldn’t pay over 350 for a shotgun like this. You will see most prices were/are around 360-380. Another good place to look for such a shotgun like this which is commonly available is Wal-Mart. I believe they have them all the time for around 347. I usually buy my firearms online because you don’t have to pay sales tax for most places and the prices are usually more competitive. In the future, I will write a post about buying firearms online.

Until next time,
